Pressure washing is the high pressure application of water to remove unsightly stains, dirt, and mold from many types of surfaces, and the removal of graffiti, pollution, and other stains from concrete and metal. The looks of wood, vinyl, and aluminum siding are improved by removing signs of neglect.

If preparing to paint, power washing is the perfect way to prep the surface and strip away old, chipped paint and grime. Many elements attack wood surfaces. Wind, rain, and dirt all destroy its natural beauty. Water causes wood to swell, then out comes the sun, making it shrink. This brittle expansion and contraction cracks and warps wood, and ultraviolet rays turn it grey and uneven in color.

Pressure treated wood is supposedly “maintenance free”. But if you own a deck exposed to full sunlight, even shade, you’ve probably discovered that’s not the case. The fact is even treated wood isn’t shielded from the harsh affect of bleaching. Shade on the other hand, is ideal for unsightly algae and mildew to develop.
